We're Here to Help
Achieve Counseling & Wellness is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit psychotherapy private practice dedicated to filling an important gap in counseling, education, and wellness services. We strive to be the premier integrative behavioral and mental health counseling and therapy provider for current and future professionals to help them achieve their personal, professional, and relationship goals. We specialize in working with adults and adolescents 16 years and older. We also provide clinical supervision services to support new counselors during their journey of obtaining their independent license.

We embrace a holistic view of well-being and offer counseling and therapy services that address the 9 interdependent dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, emotional, social/cultural, spiritual, creative, occupational/career, financial, and environmental.
We assist individuals, couples, and families in living healthier, meaningful, and fulfilling lives through counseling, education, and wellness services to help them achieve their personal, professional, and relationship goals.
All people will have access to life enriching counseling, education, and wellness services to help achieve their full potential, improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and improve quality of life for all.
Mental Health America ranked Arizona 50th in the nation for access to behavioral and mental healthcare, despite excelling at providing services to those with severe mental illness or with zero to low income who qualify for Medicaid, known as AHCCCS in Arizona (Stuart, 2015). In 2019, the gross income limit for an individual to qualify for AHCCCS was $16,620 a year, leaving numerous hard working individuals and families uninsured or underinsured (AHCCCS, 2019). In a 2018 health insurance survey, 28% of U.S. adults with employer-sponsored health insurance and 42% who bought their own plans through marketplaces were underinsured (Commonweath Fund, 2019).
The low to mid middle-income population suffers when it comes to accessing behavioral and mental health counseling and therapy services for two reasons: (1) lack of available services and (2) cost of services are a barrier (Stuart, 2015). In a survey of working adults with employer-sponsored commercial health insurance, 50% of the respondents said costs had forced them or a close family member to delay a doctor’s appointment, not fill a prescription, or postpone some other medical care (Levey, 2019).
Achieve Counseling & Wellness is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable counseling and therapy services to Arizona's middle-class population. In support of our mission and vision, we have made a commitment to accept most major employer-sponsored and commercial health insurance plans, price self-pay fees at competitive rates, and use profits from self-pay fees to offer sliding scale services to the low to mid middle-income population.
People who join the Achieve Community through self-pay services can feel good knowing that not only are they taking steps to support their own well-being, but the rates they would normally pay for services will help other hard working individuals and families access affordable counseling and therapy services. When well-being is supported, people are able to achieve their full potential, live healthier lives, and maximize their contributions to society. In turn, our economy is strengthened which helps Arizona's communities thrive and remain vibrant places to live, work, and play.
Behavioral and mental health are vital components of overall health and well-being. People with positive behavioral and mental health have effective coping skills, strong interpersonal relationships, make healthy lifestyle choices, work to achieve goals, feel good about life, and contribute to society.
Stressful life experiences, chronic medical conditions, biological factors, and feelings of loneliness can contribute to poor behavioral and mental health (CDC, 2019). Depression, anxiety, grief, and reactions to traumatic events (including PTSD) are some of the most common and uncomfortable behavioral and mental health challenges that we can experience at some point in our lives.
Through counseling and therapy, we can help you heal emotional wounds, recover motivation, gain a more helpful perspective, develop effective coping skills, and achieve a high quality of life.
Our career is often one of the most important aspects of our adult lives. Finding your way as a professional or student can be stressful. Over time that stress may begin to affect other areas of your life.
Perhaps things are going well. You enjoy your career or education path, but you are ready to take it to the next level. Counseling and therapy can help you gain clarity on where you see yourself in the future. We often use solution-focused brief therapy to assist with setting goals, developing a plan to achieve those goals, and building skills to execute that plan successfully.
Through career counseling and therapy, we can help you achieve your professional and academic goals by clarifying career values, assessing strengths, developing a career path and plan, assisting in identifying and overcoming obstacles, and creating a healthy work-life balance.
The quality of our relationships affects both short- and long-term physical, behavioral, and mental health (Umberson & Montez, 2011). Couples and family counseling and therapy can help advance the quality of these relationships and boost overall satisfaction.
Couples and family counseling and therapy can also help when dealing with a stressful event like a financial hardship, wedding planning, death of a loved one, or a separation or divorce. In couples and family counseling and therapy, the couple or family is the "client," and the focus is on helping the couple or family improve the functioning of the relationship.
Through couples and family counseling and therapy, we can help increase understanding, promote effective communication, develop problem-solving and collaboration skills, and strengthen feelings of connectedness and security. Our supportive, non-judgmental, and unbiased approach to counseling and therapy can help enrich and maintain these essential relationships.
Your generous support and contributions are tax-deductible and enable us to provide counseling and therapy services that help individuals and families achieve their full potential, improve health and well-being, and strengthen Arizona's communities.
